We always strive to be honest with them with our feedback. Most of our clients bring three to four different outfits to change into. We recommend bringing at least three various changes of clothes in a variety of colors, not just your favorite shade.
How many outfits youll want will depend on the length of your photography session. The general recommendation is 1-2 outfits for a 1 hour session, and 2-3 outfits for a longer session. Particularly when it comes to novel experiences like a professional photo shoot, it is effortless and reassuring. Watch for the colors that make your eyes, smile, hair, and skin stand out these tones are the best.

That’s what Rena did for her senior pictures at The Arb. During Sacramento senior sessions, we like to start the photoshoot with a casual outfit such as jeans and a top. This gives time for the senior to get used to being in front of the camera while wearing an outfit that she’s most comfortable in. The clothes style also depends on the location of your senior photoshoot. You wouldn’t want to wear a formal dress or a suit for an outdoor photoshoot.
We can go through your outfits the day of your shoot and work together to find the perfect combination for you! If it helps you plan, I generally recommend for any girl to start with the more dressy option while hair and makeup is fresh for senior pictures. I always recommend planning to wear at least two outfits during your senior pictures. Most girls wear one more dressy outfit and one more casual outfit.
Images that portray special and meaningful items will be the ones that you will treasure the most. Hats and scarves can be a great accessory if you know how to pair them well with your outfits. Always try on the outfit with the hat or another accessory, so you will be sure how this style combination looks on you.
If you arent planning to hire a professional photographer because it isnt in the budget, you can still absolutely take your own photos at home. It takes time to make outfit changes so you dont want to use up too many valuable minutes that you could be getting photos taken. Every minute matters when you are in a time limited session.
